Many of today's children are considered at-risk. What does this mean and what can a parent or caregiver do about it? These are things that I hope to address in this webste. I will give the reader some idea of what is considered at-risk behavior and some of the programs that are available. I will also touch on what the parent or caregiver needs to do in order to obtain these services. This will not be a comphrehensive list as there is not a centralized database for the entire country. I will try to cover programs from the least restrictive programs all the way to boot camps.
Some of the factors that would help to classify children as at-risk would include their socio-economic background. Where and how a child lives does have an effect on how they would behave in public and how they would interact with peers. There is no set guideline to determine what classifies as "at-risk" so there are many definitions. I hope to help you discover some of the more commonly discussed factors.
There are many different types of programs out there for children that have been identified as being "at-risk". Some of these programs are school based programs, some are through the Juvenile Justice system, still others can be through the behavioral health or medical system. The trick is to find the one that is right for your child and what you need to do to qualify for these programs. With this website I hope to be able to help you find some information that will point you in the right direction.
